Friday Fictioneers 6/15 – via Madison Woods

Every Wednesday visit Madison Wood’s site to see the picture prompt for the week’s 100-word writing challenge.  Write a 100-word story or poem that’s inspired by the picture.  Post the writing on your blog.  On Friday post a link to your blog entry in the comments section of her Friday Fictioneers post.

This is my post for this week…. Your feedback and comments are welcome.

The two women walked along the trail to the lake in silence. They were both dwelling on the strange turn of events last night.  Neither had ever spent a weekend away without their husband, but they knew they’d be safe at the cabin by themselves.  This weekend was planned as an innocuous escape from the burnout they were feeling.  Surrounded by the serene beauty of nature they sought freedom from a chaotic life.

“Should we tell them Meg?”

-“No, I don’t think so.”

They giggled and walked hand in hand as lovers do, along their chosen path.
