In My Dream

In my dream…

While I laid naked in the luxury of a warm stream he bathed me gently and reverently.

He adorned my body with rose petals and lavishly scented my skin with jasmine oil.

Cleansed of all impurities, free of insecurities, a lost innocence returned unspoiled.

A faceless, nameless muse appeared in the muted light of a burning candle.

A distant voice said “wake up…your life is waiting for you.”

The Vulture Ruler

Guardian of knowledge

Fitful masked imposter

Master of generous insistence

Initiator of a frustrated mind

Urgently and beyond reason

Manifest the poison of doubt

Fill the inner monster’s cup

Prey on stumbling indecision

Trust the villain’s beastly vision

Praise the tortured serpent’s plight

Feed an aimless panicked ego

Claim the skeptic’s empty shadow

Haunt a withered broken heart

Blur all truth as heresy

Until belief cannot be seen

Buzzards nested on barren limbs

Swoop to feast on cold remains

Fallen soldiers bloody, maimed

Hunger for truth to explain

The final crush of a devil’s reign

Musings -Trust-

I read a great line this morning by Michael at Have a Dream.

“trust is like a bank account…invest often and withdraw wisely”

I use the word “trust” all the time but never think about its deeper meaning.  It’s a word that can elicit elation or fear, depending on my attitude toward trust.  When I trust a person I open myself up to the possibility of being emotionally hurt.  Of course, there’s an element of risk with any emotional investment.  Trust builds slowly over time, allowing me the chance to nurture my faith in a person and grow as a human being.

“We’re never so vulnerable than when we trust someone – but paradoxically, if we cannot trust, neither can we find love or joy” – Walter Anderson

Trust is the first step toward love and joy.

  • How is it possible to form a friendship or relationship without trust?
  • If you lack confidence in a person’s character, how is it possible to love them?
  • What makes another  person trustworthy?

Trust can be risky.

  • Does trusting a person guarantee they will value and protect your trust?
  • Is it possible to trust someone too much or too little?
  • If trust is lost or betrayed, can trust be regained?
“When my love swears that she is made of truth I do believe her, though I know she lies”   –  Shakespeare

Please share your self-reflections. I would love to know your thoughts.

“Compassion is that which makes the heart of the good move at the pain of others. It crushes and destroys the pain of others; thus, it is called compassion. It is called compassion because it shelters and embraces the distressed.” – The Buddha

Compassion is defined as “deep awareness of the suffering of another coupled with the wish to relieve it.”

There are so many people in the world with broken hearts, broken dreams and broken wings.

Perhaps we know someone who has lost a child, has been the victim of a violent crime, has lost their home and possessions in a fire or natural disaster  or has a loved one fighting cancer.

We empathize with their suffering.  We understand their suffering.  We imagine the pain they’re going through.

I doubt there’s anyone who hasn’t felt sadness, loneliness and despair for themselves and others. There’s a good chance we will all suffer through trauma, loss or hopelessness in our lifetime.

Compassion takes it a step further where we want to relieve their suffering.  We open our hearts to the person and want to do something to ease their pain.  Compassion is the willingness to help others in need.  Compassion is action.

It’s easy for me to be compassionate toward people who treat me well.  It’s a lot more difficult to be compassionate with someone who has hurt me.  It’s truly a sign of growth when I reach that turning point and can be willing to help them.

So many have helped me find hope at times.  I can honestly say that not everyone who has helped me has been my friend, or has even known or liked me.

There are good people in the world who can set aside their differences and resentments to help someone in need.  I admire them and learn from them.

Compassion can expand a person’s experience in the world in a positive way…rescuing an animal, feeding the hungry, listening to the despair of another human being, a smile for the lonely,  assisting the elderly.  The possibilities are endless.

Lyrics translated in English :

The same stream of life that runs through my veins night and day
runs through the world and dances in rhythmic measures.

It is the same life that shoots in joy through the dust of the earth
in numberless blades of grass
and breaks into tumultuous waves of leaves and flowers.

It is the same life that is rocked in the ocean-cradle of birth
and of death, in ebb and in flow.

I feel my limbs are made glorious by the touch of this world of life.
And my pride is from the life-throb of ages dancing in my blood this moment.

Forgive Me

There eventually comes a time in the whole spiritual evolution of letting go of a failed relationship when we have to forgive.

It’s time for me to forgive me, not him.

My soul is aching for forgiveness. It wants to soar in freedom and peace.

To release the pain that binds me to the unhappy experience I must  confront the self-incrimination.

Self-blame and regret keeps me blinded to the truth. Enough is enough.

I’ve been angry and hurt  long enough. I choose life and a chance to love again.

Now it’s time to stop looking for answers and just simply be me again. I am human…a work of art in progress.

I made mistakes along the way and have beaten myself up emotionally.

Today I”m putting the focus back on me and my well-being.  All my mistakes are forgivable.  Some mistakes are real, others are imagined. My inner voice has shouted that I am a failure…until today.

These are the 20 things about me in that relationship that deserves forgiveness, will seek forgiveness and will be forgiven. I forgive myself for…

  1. Believing the worst about me
  2. Being too hard on myself
  3. The emotional assaults on myself
  4. Compromising my own values and needs
  5. Taking a risk that ended up hurting
  6. Losing my voice and not speaking up
  7. Not being compassionate toward myself
  8. Punishing and judging myself as a failure
  9. Tolerating his lack of capacity for intimacy
  10. Staying despite the warning signs and red flags
  11. Letting my self-worth get trampled by rejection
  12. Avoiding conflict, merely going along to get along
  13. Trying to comfort  him when I was hurting too
  14. Giving too much of myself to him and not enough to me
  15. Allowing him to change my perception of the experience
  16. Letting him intimidate me with his emotional withdrawal
  17. Staying with a man who was not good for me emotionally
  18. Settling for feeling like the other woman with his ex/dead wife
  19. Not leaving his house when it was clear I wasn’t appreciated there
  20. A gamut of feelings and emotions, i.e.  hurt, resentment, anger, frustration, fear, disappointment, shame, guilt, embarrassment and humiliation

What I did, how I felt, my reactions and my emotions are who I am. Once I forgive myself good things will happen. I’ll put on my sexy stockings and high heels and get ready to dance again.

the only thing that matters is what you say about you…not what others say about you.

stay strong and in the present moment to reap your rewards

Chit Chat Rant

In her tiny lit corner

Of an immense cyber world

She sits with pen in hand

To chatter, rant, ramble

Rave, roar, rhyme

Whine, grumble, protest

Smile, laugh and cry

And whatever is revealed

Is real

No longer concealed

Behind blind eyes

Whether they be caring, daring

Glaring, bruising, or amusing

Thoughts ooze, drip and tumble

Onto the page without

Restriction or retraction

Until the mind is at peace

With its compulsion to think

And the spirit is released

To wander freely

In wide open spaces

In tranquil silence

It pays to be fearless.  Love to you all…Karm

Dear Sorrow

Dear deep and penetrating sorrow,

For many breathless moments I grieved, mourned

For what I once believed was a lasting bond

I confess

The days and nights spent with you seemed endless

My nightmares of betrayal and doom

Brought to the surface a festering wound

Goddesses gathered to hear the pain

of my tortured vision of infinite blame

Angels came to reveal my ability

to hear unspoken truth, to accept reality

Healing is now, forgiveness may never be

But I know that through you I am finding me

It pays to be fearless. Love to you all…Karm

Music is “New Day” by Philip Wesley

Reach for Tranquility

One of my favorite pastimes is reading inspirational and spiritual poetry.  I also love listening to tranquil music, meditation and taking long walks as a silent observer.  I believe we all have a purpose, and a place in the world and the universe that is uniquely ours.

It’s important for me to take time away from my daily routine for self-reflection. There are days when I try to get in touch with a deeper sense of meaning to my everyday life.  Other times I  reflect on healing and self-renewal.

This inspirational poem, “Desiderata” by Max Ehrmann, is one of my favorites. The music video is named “Uncertain” by Simon Daum. Mr. Daum is considered a new age classical composer and writes some of the most beautiful, tranquil music I’ve ever experienced.  Enjoy!

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is perennial as the grass.

Take kindly to the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.

Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

Max Ehrmann c.1920
